We are so happy we chose to send our son to Chop Point… For the first time, we heard him say the words, ‘I love my school!'”
James and Marlene Wallace, parents
Chop Point School is a close-knit community perched on a hillside overlooking the picturesque Kennebec River. Upon first driving into campus a high-raftered lodge welcomes visitors and hosts chapel, band, and chorus. Down the hill, and overlooking the water, is an expansive, open-beamed dining hall centered around a wood stove where all students, kindergarten through twelfth grade, eat lunch together each day. Sharing meal time helps foster community by celebrating birthdays, accomplishments, and daily announcements.
Across the lawn from the dining hall is the boathouse which hosts 7-12 classrooms, a small library, computer lab, and a quiet study space.
The elementary classrooms are spread out throughout campus in multiple buildings. This allows students in grades k-6 access to fresh air and movement for their bodies throughout the day as they travel from class to Art, Spanish, Music, and/or Lunch.
In addition, three tournament-size tennis courts, a regulation size soccer field, a first-class gymnasium with two full-size basketball courts, gardens, faculty homes; a playground, a flock of free-range chickens, and a dog (or two )are all spread out over 50 wooded acres.
We encourage you to come visit, we would love to give you a tour.
