We are so happy we chose to send our son to Chop Point… For the first time, we heard him say the words, ‘I love my school!'”
James and Marlene Wallace, parents
Chop Point School is a close-knit community perched on a hillside overlooking the picturesque Kennebec River. In summer, youth from around the world attend our traditional Maine camp where they swim, boat, play games, and go on outdoor excursions. The remainder of the year, the buildings are brimming with students. The campus includes an expansive, open-beamed dining hall centered around a cheery woodstove; a high-raftered lodge where students attend chapel; a boathouse with classrooms, a small library, computer lab, and quiet study space; multiple outbuildings and faculty homes; a playground, gardens, and even a flock of free-range chickens and two tail-wagging dogs.
A delightful highlight of our school is that all students, kindergarten through twelfth grade, eat lunch together each day. Sharing this time enables everyone to know each other, celebrate birthdays and accomplishments, and keep in touch with what is happening at every level of the school.
Additional activities take place on a regulation soccer field, three tournament-size tennis courts, a first-class gymnasium with two full-size basketball courts, and a fifty-acre farm in nearby Dresden. Future plans include the construction of additional classrooms modeled after a welcoming New England inn.
